About: The Fair Usage Policy

Overview

Some of our services are offered or described as being unlimited in nature. This is subject, at all times, to reasonable usage limits for personal use by an individual.

Our services and rate plans are also designed for you to use predominantly within the subscription area. This means, if the majority of your voice, text or data usage over consecutive billing cycles is not within the subscription area, we may terminate your service or restrict your ability to receive service on our third-party service provider’s networks.

Our Fair Usage Policy applies to all our data, voice, text and roaming services.

See Fair Usage Policy

Fair Usage

All the services provided to you by Freedom Mobile, are intended for your personal use and not for commercial use or for resale. That means that you cannot share, sell or resell the services provided to you by Freedom Mobile.

Loaning or renting your handset to any third parties for their use is not considered personal use. These prohibitions apply even if we have described the services we have offered as being unlimited.

We have the right to determine that certain usage, dialing, or calling patterns indicate that you are not using our services for your personal use, and we reserve the right to suspend, terminate or restrict your services with no prior notice.

See Fair Usage Policy.

Unlimited Plans Data Policy

Depending on the plan you select, Freedom Mobile’s unlimited data can be used at 5G speeds on the Freedom network (where available) and at 4G speeds (up to 100 Mbps) on partner networks in Nationwide, the U.S., and Mexico (as applicable).

Will I incur overage fees when my data allotment runs out?

No, you will not incur data overage fees. Once your full-speed allotment is depleted, you will continue to have access to data services, with no data overage fees, but at slower speeds in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico (as applicable) without additional charges. This is subject, at all times, to reasonable usage limits for personal use by an individual.

Speeds will be reduced until the end of your current billing cycle as follows: on the Freedom Network, up to 256 kilobits per second (for downloads) and up to 128 kilobits per second (for uploads) and on Nationwide partner networks, in the U.S., and in Mexico (as applicable), up to 128 kilobits per second (for downloads) and up to 64 kilobits per second (for uploads). Applications such as web browsing, email, instant messaging, voice over IP services, or low-quality audio streaming will continue to work, but at a slower speed. Applications that normally require greater bandwidth, such as video streaming or peer-to-peer file sharing will also continue to work, but the slower speed may affect application performance.

For plans that include a data allotment with access to data roaming in other destinations (such as the Roam Beyond plan), if your applicable data allotment is depleted within your current billing cycle, you will not have access to any additional data in those destinations unless you purchase a one-time data pass.

If the majority of your voice, text or data usage over consecutive billing cycles is not on the Freedom Network, we may terminate your service or restrict your ability to receive service on our third-party service provider’s networks.

See Fair Usage Policy for all the details.

Managing your Usage

To help manage your data usage, we will send you a text message notifying you when you have used 70% and 100% of the full-speed allotment included in your plan, at which point you may choose to purchase a data add-on to add more full-speed data to your plan. In all cases, usage is subject to the Freedom Mobile Terms of Service and Fair Usage Policy.

You can also take steps to monitor your usage proactively. Refer to your device manufacturer’s user guide for more information:

Conditions on International Text and Calling

If you have a Big Gig data plan that does not include unlimited talk, international calls are +$0.05 in addition to the World Saver rate.

For the international calling Add-On services, such as Call India or Call Bangladesh, after voice usage above 10,000 minutes per billing cycle, we reserve the right to suspend, terminate or restrict the Add-On, with no prior notice, until the next billing cycle.

If we have suspended or terminated your Add-On services, you will be charged regular pay-per-use rates for international calling. However, if the usage, dialing, or calling patterns which suggested to us that you were sharing, selling, or reselling our services continues, we reserve the right to re-suspend, re-terminate, or re-restrict your services within no prior notice. In those circumstances, we may also refuse to allow you to reactivate service.

To help you to manage your international calling Add-On usage, we will send you text message warnings (free of charge) notifying you that you are approaching the voice usage levels set out above.
