About: Call Control

Overview

Call Control is a package of services provided to all Freedom Mobile phone plan subscribers. Call Control includes the following six (6) services:

  • Caller ID

  • Missed call alerts

  • Call waiting

  • Call hold

  • Call Forwarding

  • Conference Calling

Caller ID

Caller ID allows you to see the phone number of an incoming call, provided that the number is not listed as unknown, or the caller has not blocked their number from displaying.

While Freedom Mobile’s Caller ID service does not include Name Display, some smartphone devices will automatically search for a name or business associated with an incoming call. Phone numbers that are saved on your mobile device with a name will also show the name and/or phone number during an incoming call.

To help maintain your privacy, you can choose to have your phone number and name blocked from being displayed to the person you’re calling.

To withhold your phone number from displaying when making a call, dial #31# plus the phone number you’re calling and hit Send. When that person receives your call, their phone will show an incoming call from “unknown”.

For example, to block the phone at 555-666-1234 from seeing your phone number, you would dial: #31#5556661234

Your handset may be enabled to turn on phone number display blocking for all outbound calls, regardless of who you’re calling. Please refer to your handset manual for details.

Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding allows you to redirect incoming calls to another Canadian phone number in the following scenarios:

  • Unconditional Call Forwarding - All incoming calls are forwarded.

  • Conditional Call Forwarding - No Reply - Calls are only forwarded when you do not answer the call.

  • Conditional Call Forwarding - Not Reachable - Calls are only forwarded when you are not reachable (i.e. phone is turned off).

  • Conditional Call Forwarding - Busy - Calls are only forwarded when your line is busy (i.e. you are on another call and do not have call waiting enabled)

Managing your Call Forwarding Service

You may turn Call Forwarding ON or OFF via your My Account. This setup is considered Unconditional Call Forwarding, meaning all incoming calls are forwarded irrespective of your phone status.

You may turn one of four (4) unique versions of Call Forwarding ON or OFF directly from your phone using the following actions based on the Call Forwarding Type:

Call Forwarding Charges

Call forwarding is a free service when used within the Freedom and Nationwide networks.

When traveling internationally and using conditional call forwarding you may incur additional charges for calls back to Canada from the roaming destination. You will not incur additional charges for using unconditional call forwarding when roaming.

Check our international roaming rates before travelling and consider enabling Wi-Fi Calling on your phone if you are planning to use your phone in destinations with higher roaming charges.

Conference Calling

Conference calling allows you to connect up to three people (2 + you) on one call.

If you are on a rate plan that does not include unlimited calling, you will be charged standard rates for each call while using within Canada and the United States.

Refer to your device manufacturer’s user guide for detailed steps on how to use conference calling on your device:
